Headshot_2010_sm-1Thank you for your interest! I’d love to take this opportunity to share a little more about myself…

For over 15 years, I was a business professional.  And while I enjoyed some aspects of my work (like the commraderie of co-workers, satisfaction of helping customers' businesses succeed, steady pay check, etc.), overall I felt generaly stressed and unfulfilled.

Then in the summer of 2006, I finally took a leap of faith, resigned from the corporate world and decided to pursue my passions – teaching people how to take care of themselves through yoga and therapeutic massage!

You may be wondering… How exactly did I get into yoga and massage while in the corporate world? To tell you the truth… there was no logical path. One day, I simply had an epiphany… I wanted to learn massage therapy. So I researched nearby programs and signed up for one at the Garden State Center for Holistic Healthcare that was beginning the following month. And so my journey started… but massage therapy was a building block for me and soon after, I decided I wanted to teach yoga. This was my TRUE calling.

In retrospect, I know my desire to share the teachings of yoga was deep-seeded and inside of me from childhood. In fact, I was always doing yoga as a child – I just didn’t know it! And ever since college, where I’d taken my first formal yoga class for credit, I have been continually involved in my own self-study into this amazing ancient practice.

As I practiced yoga into my adulthood, I know for sure that it played a major role in helping me deal with my own physical issues, personal traumas and financial uncertainty. My practice became my sanctuary and I realized I wanted to share this with others, so they too could benefit from yoga’s empowering benefits.

So in 2001, I attained my Yoga Certification through AAAI/ISMA (American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association.) My yoga credentials also include training from a variety of yoga “schools” including Iyengar, Sivananda, Art of Living and Yoga Fit Training Systems. In 2011, I also completed a Therapeutic Yoga certification program to focus even more on the therapeutic and healing aspects of yoga.

I feel the learning process never ends, as there is so much depth to the knowledge we can gain. I regularly attend continuing education retreats and courses for massage therapy and yoga in order to deepen my experience.  Since 2001, I have taught hatha yoga at various studios and wellness centers in NJ and PA, presented group workshops in corporate settings and retreats, and provided personalized private instruction to individuals, families and small groups.

Most recently, I have taken my many years of massage and yoga experience to develop my own brand of Personal Wellness Programs. These custom programs utilize the teachings of yoga as well as other wellness modalities to help individuals achieve specific health goals and experience a balanced, stress-free state of well-being.

In looking back, I have learned much about what we are here to do… I certainly don’t have all the answers but I do know that we are NOT meant to be stressed and unhappy!

Instead, life is meant to be lived to the fullest in mind, body and spirit… I look forward to meeting you one day and sharing in your own yoga experience!

Be Well and Enjoy,
Sheetal
